Radioactive Smoothie Bowl

Bowl… drink.. smoothie…. Idk whatever you want to call it… I make it in a blender so part of me wants to call it a drink, but I eat it out of a bowl so the other part of me wants to just call it a bowl.. haha I can’t decide… I think I’ll stick with the term bowl.

On to the bowl.. It’s full of vitamins, minerals, and leaky gut healing collagen protein. Your probably wondering why it is so vibrantly green.. its cuz it has lots of spinach in it! Lets hear if for a nice healthy dose of IRON ( which many women, especially menstruating, are deficient it!). Plus the addition of camu camu powder (vitamin C) makes the iron more likely to be absorbed by the body. Theres your health tid bit for the day haha

On to the recipe….

  1. Pour water into blender and add stevia, vanilla extract, a little salt and camu camu
  2. Then add celery and spinach
  3. BLEND on high speed till well mashed, add more water if not liquidy
  4. Switch blender to  a low speed and slowly poor in gelatin powder 1 tbsp at a time
  5. Once all gelatin has been added set blender to high for about 20 seconds, then transfer liquid to bowl.
  6. Place bowl in refrigerator for about an hour or for a quick 10 minutes in freezer if you don’t feel like waiting. Just be sure to check on it!
  7. Remove from fridge or freezer and it should have a sort of jelly like consistency, add your toppings!

Have you tried any other toppings than the ones I’ve mentioned? Let me know below!!

Bite Me, With Love

Soy Free and Dairy Free Zucchini Cheese

I love cheese. Cheese was one of the hardest things for me to give up once I switched my lifestyle. I tried for a while to find a good substitute, but there wasn’t much in the way of store bought options. So I decided to do a little research and find my own way of making “cheese”.  Thanks to,  A Squirrel in the Kitchen’s zucchini cheese recipe, I was able to come up with my own version that worked best for me.

This was my first try, I forgot to peel the zucchini first .. HAH.. normally its more yellow!

2 Cups Sliced and Peeled Zucchini

1 Cup Water

2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast

2 Scoops Vital Proteins Gelatin

1 Clove Garlic

1 Tsp Himalayan Sea Salt

1 Tbsp Coconut Oil

  1. Add water to sauce pan and bring to boil then add zucchini, and steam
  2. Once zucchini has softened ( about 4 minutes) transfer water and zucchini to blender or food processor
  3. Add garlic clove, coconut oil, salt, pepper, and any other desired spices to flavor the “cheese”blend until creamy
  4. Add in nutritional yeast, gelatin and then blend again until fully mixed
  5. Transfer mixture to pyrex dish of choice  and pop in refrigerator. The depth of your dish will determine how long the mixture needs to stay in the refrigerator The deeper the dish the longer the refrigerating process.

*If you want to make this in a hurry use a shallow dish and place in freezer for about 3o minutes and bam you’ve got some gluten free, diary free, soy free cheese!

Whats your favorite kind of cheese? I’ll try and tweak the recipe to see if I can get it to taste that way!

Warm Purple Veggie Bowl

Cabbage for DESSERT? Why yes my confused foodie, its slightly bitter taste goes nice with spicy ginger, and mild cauliflower. Not to mention its beautiful purple color makes a pretty bold statement on any table! Don’t forget EAT PRETTY, BE PRETTY!

1/2 Cup Purple Cabbage                                    1 Tbsp Chia Seeds

1 Cup Chopped Cauliflower                             1 Tbsp Ceylon Cinnamon

1 Tbsp Freshly Chopped Ginger                      3 Tsp Maca Root Powder

2 Stalks Celery                                                      1 Tsp Camu Camu Powder

2 Scoops Vital Protein Collagen                    3 Tbsp Coconut Flour

1 Tbsp Lemon Juice                                               1 Tbsp Diatomaceous Earth

1/2 Tsp Green Stevia

  1. Place cauliflower, celery, ginger, and cabbage into pan with 1 cup water and bring to a boil
  2. Reduce heat then simmer for about 5 minutes
  3. Carefully pour veggies and water into blender or food processor
  4. blend on high until all veggies have been reduced to a pulp, add a little more water if needed
  5. Add collagen, diatomaceous earth, stevia, cinnamon lemon juice and maca root powder
  6. Blend again, then remove from blender and transfer to a bowl, add coconut flour and camu camu. The reason I reserve camu camu till the end is to allow the veggies to cool, vitamin C is destroyed in high heat. I add coconut at the end also to determine how much flour I need to thicken the bowl, use your own judgement!
  7. Sprinkle chia seeds on top and stick a spoon in it!

Fun Food Facts

Maca Root: Helps increase LIBIDO, ENERGY, and CONCENTRATION, check out my favorite brand on amazon,  The Maca Team, sourced directly from Peru, it’s one of the highest quality Maca products I have found. They also have very valuable information on their website. <= Learn MORE about Maca!

Camu Camu Powder: Contains more vitamin C than any other food on the planet! Found on amongst the low growing shrubbery in Peru and Brazil. Due to its HIGH VITAMIN C content, Camu Camu is very effective for boosting immunity. I take 2 tsp per day when I feel a cold coming on, I haven’t had a cold in over a year now since making this valuable fruit a part of my healthy lifestyle. I love this brand, sourced directly from alongside the Amazon River!

Fresh Raw Ginger: Fresh ginger in or before a meal stimulates DIGESTIVE JUICES to help you body best assimilate the nutrients its about to receive! And it’s an awesome ANTI-INFLAMMATORY herb.

Diatomaceous Earth: Intestinal cleanser, because it is slightly abrasive it is very effective at detoxing the gut and removing toxic metals. PLUS it is also high in silica, one of the worlds forgotten minerals. A mineral that is imperative to the functioning of our essential organs, like heart, liver, and lungs. I say forgotten because with the quality of today’s soil it is harder and harder to get it from our diet. When purchasing ALWAYS remember to buy FOOD GRADE!

Hope you enjoy this recipe. Comment if you want to hear more about any of the other health enhancing ingredients!

Easy Guacamole

Want to impress your house guests or just feed yourself quickly, with a healthy, delicious dipping substance? Then you’ve picked the right recipe, plus its MAD easy.If you have 10 minutes, you can make this. If you have 5 minutes and have made this before, you can make this.  I would suggest multiplying the recipe by whatever number of people you plan on entertaining or hoard it all to yourself… I eat the whole thing.. I don’t share.

  •  1 medium tomato chopped into little squares
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/4 chopped onion
  • 1/2 a lime

  • ground black pepper

Method : This is the least messiest and efficient way I have come up with to make Guac

  1. cut avocado long way, remove pit with spoon and peel off outer skin
  2. place avocado in bowl or molecajete  <= exact one I have + PRIME
  3. add 1/2 lime, some salt and pepper, garlic and onion
  4. smash and bash it, way easier with molecajete! <= cheapest for sale on amazon
  5. add tomatoes and more delicately spread them out
  6. Volia! you have made you Guac now serve!

Dipper Suggestions

For the boys: gluten free corn chips, sweet potato chips

For the health conscious folk: all the colors bell peppers, chicken breast, shrimp, jicama

I have a molecajete.. that thing in the picture, so its super easy for me to mash up avocados, I suggest getting one if you think you’ll eat a lot of guac. Plus they are pretty cheap and pretty! Where did I get mine? Amazon of course! click on any of the links to find your new kitchen toy! If you want a great affordable guac making set click here!

The Real Superbowl

I know we are just getting over all the Superbowl hype, patriots fans still on their high, while the Seahawks fans are drowning their sorrows over, what is hopefully a diary free cheese dip and paired with organic chips. (one can only dream)

To help those of you coping with your lose or a massive hangover, I’ve created a new SuperBowl for all to enjoy! Full of health enhancing superfoods like chlorella and Ashwaganda, just to name a few.

1 avocado

1 cup greens ( spinach ,lettuce) nothing too bitteravocado-bowl

1/2 cup water

1 tbsp Ceylon Cinnamon

1 tbsp cocoa powder

1 tsp Camu Camu powder

1 tsp Diatomaceous Earth

squeeze of half a lemon

1 tbsp coconut flour ( or more if too watery)

2 tbsp ground flax seed

pinch of salt

*  If you can handle sugar go ahead and add some honey or sweetener of choice, I just try to avoid using sweeteners if I can 🙂 I think this tastes great without one!

  1. place avocado , greens, water, cinnamon, cocoa, camu camu, Dichotomous Earth, and lemon in blender and blend until everything has a smooth consistency, don’t worry if its a little watery
  2. Remove from blender and add coconut flour flax seed and salt! Mix well, it should have a short of paste consistency, then grab a spoon and eat!

Keep Reading if you wanna know about those Superfoods!

Camu Camu: One of natures highest sources of vitamin C, one of the body’s favorite antioxidants. Helps strengthen the immune system, especially after a night of drinking when our immune systems have taken a beating.

Ashwaganda: A traditional Ayurvedic “all healer”, an adaptogenic herb that will help combat stress inside your body. Where ever it is needed most, it will be there for you, and nothing is more stressful on the liver than drinking.  Don’t forget, its an antioxidant too!

Avocado: Say HELLO to healthy fats. I’m sure you ate a few too many chips or drank a little too much over the past few weeks and maybe you’ve just decided to start your healthy lifestyle change after the Superbowl. Well this little guy is your best friend, healthy fats keep us satisfied throughout the day, decreased cravings ladys! This bowl should keep you full until lunch!

Flax Seed: There isn’t much fiber in chips, or pizza, or probably anything you chowded down on these past few weeks. Flax seeds are a great way to get things moving again, if you know what I mean ;). Not going only makes the body hold onto toxins longer, not good if you’ve been enjoying a couple drinks each game night.

Diatomaceous Earth: This fine powder is high in silica which is essential for good hair skin and nail health. With today’s soil its hard to get enough from foods, so its good to supplement. Seriously my hair never looks better when I take this stuff!

Ceylon Cinnamon: Another great addition to any healthy dessert, it helps to stabilize blood sugar by lowering insulin, so you don’t get that energy crash afterwards. Thanks Scientists for figuring that one out!

Coconut Flour: Antimicrobial, helps combat the nasties that live in your gut. The nasties or unwanted bacteria feed off sugar and by consuming coconut products you are gently creating a hostile environment for them to live in due to it’s Lauric Acid content

Cocoa Powder: We all like chocolate, lets be honest.. its fuckin’ delicious, but did you know one large componenet of chocolate has some health benefits?! Cocoa powder contains potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and antioxidants, all things we need to be our healthiest selves. Plus it also has the ability to provide a little extra energy and focus. I feel more energized after having some cocoa powder and brain fog BE GONE!

Well if your a Seahawk fan I hope you enjoy this Superbowl a little more than the last, and Patriot fans I hope this Superbowl keeps you on a high and your energy up!

Let me know how you like it! Comment below and let me know what other Superfoods would you add?!

Do You Like Chicken Nuggets?

Honestly though.. is that even a question.. Who doesn’t like chicken nuggets?! If you don’t… well then bye, stop reading bye… unless your vegan or vegetarian.. its cool girl I feel ya. Anyways back to me… I LOVE chicken nuggets, always have and probably always will. I’m going to tell you a story about an excited little blonde health food nut.

As you know my way of eating has several restrictions, I like to refer to them as standards..just to recap.. NO SOY, NO CORN, NO DAIRY ( specifically casein), NO GLUTEN, NO SUGAR, and generally low carb. The other day when I was in Whole Foods I thought I hit the jackpot, premade chicken nuggets that I can just pop in the oven without any of my forbidden ingredients!? Too good to be true ?! Well, actually it turned out that way.

Blinded by the excitement over the fact that I had found Gluten Free, Organic chicken nuggets, I didn’t read the ingredient list. I think part of me didn’t read the ingredients because something inside me told me I would be disappointed. I had been craving chicken nuggets for so long, I always have to watch my husband enjoy their crispy crunchy chickeny goodness. So I didn’t read the ingredients.. and I went home a very happy little blonde foodie.

A few days later I made those golden nuggets and enjoyed the whole box.. there weren’t that many. They were a great study snack. After I had eaten them.. I miraculously decided to read the ingredient list. Now I’m normally that person that you see in the grocery store reading everything, and throwing things back on the shelf in disgust when I see a “horrifying ingredient”. So I think the fact that I waited to read what these were really made of till after I ate them, meant I somehow knew they wouldn’t be completely standards approved.

Come to find out… they had soy.. ugh..oops. I was a little disappointed in myself at first and felt slightly guilty. But I soon realized, that one itsy bit of soy isn’t gonna harm me much. I probably haven’t had soy in about 6 months! Lesson learned, no matter what, food outta a box really is a no go. I am much better off with the real deal, even though it may take more time to prepare its worth it in the long run! Seriously food companies, Why you gotta SUCK?!

Eating those chicken nuggets reminded me just really how much I do like them. This gave me the motivation to come up with a way to make my own. And let me tell you .. Mission accomplished. Today I made some BOMB ASS CHICKEN NUGGETS and guess what.. they were GLUTEN FREE, SOY FREE, CORN FREE, CASEIN FREE, SUGAR FREE, and even made with ORGANIC CHICKEN!

Needless to say today’s Blondie Bite is my Chicken Nuggets for the Gluten Free Soul ! Best enjoyed sober and with the dipping sauce of your choice.

Have you felt guilty for messing up on your strict diet, or healing journey? What did you do about it to feel better? ALSOOO What do you like to dip your chicken nuggets in?!

When Your Mother Comes to Visit

So if you guys have been keeping up, my husband has been away for a little bit so I’ve been chilling out here on my own. My mother, being the worry wart that she is, no really we went to yoga last night ( like a 20 min walk there and back), she speed-walked the entire way home because she thought we were in the ghetto and gonna get robbed. We were in actually in a section full of college kids. ( insert monkey emoji shielding its eyes) But anyways she decided that I couldn’t be here all by myself for too long, so she decided to come for a visit.

Now trust me, I love my mom, like for realz we have so much fun, shopping, spa dates, doing all the fitness activities, so I was very excited for her to come. But before she came I made sure that everything in my life/ apartment, whatever, was mom proof. You know what I mean, like how when your mom’s not there you probably haven’t cleaned your bath tub in like 3 months or usually you let your laundry pile up until you run out of underwear. That tends to worry mothers, or bring on a slew of nagging.

Because I feel like I am very competent when it comes to creating a mother-approved environment, I have compiled a list to help you too ensure your mother has a pleasant, complaint free, and shock averting stay.Tick off all these boxes and you can relax and enjoy your time with mom, without having to worry if your lifestyle will send her over the edge.

Managing Mom

◊ Clean your sinks : any of that toothpaste scum.. yeah get that gone

◊ Clean your tub: like that orange stuff in there … thats mold. #moldisnotahouseplant

◊ Vacuum: even if its a little bit.. like woah especially if you have pets, my floors looked amazing

◊ Clean your stove: hint remove the grates if its gas and get all around those burners

◊ Wash your mirrors: bathrooms mirrors.. clean them, you’ll be amazed at how much more beautiful you look in a clean mirror

◊ Hide your clutter: I don’t care where you put it, just hide it! I mean if your feeling ambitious find a place for it all and if not, wait for your mom..she’ll know where to put it.

◊ Organize your Kitchen drawers: you want your mom to know that you have your life together, so organize that shit

◊ Clean your toilet bowels!: This is super important, first no one likes a dirty toilet, second, if your mom’s like mine she would flip her shit and use the toilet at the nearest hotel

◊ Make your bed: In everyday life who has time to make their bed?!.. not me but with mom around, gotta show her that you are good at #adulting

.. on the subject of bed…

◊Wash your sheets: especially if mom is sleeping in your bed.. you don’t want her sleeping in anyone’s jizz. #crunchysheets #no

◊ Wash your towels: a mom can always tell when the towels aren’t freshly washed

◊ Check the air: what I mean by this is make sure your apartment doesn’t smell like poop. If it does.. well first I’m concerned for you… second light a fucking candle!

◊ Lock your door: whether you live in a million dollar loft with a gated parking and code entry building or a typical college house.. lock it! Seriously if she sees you not locking your door she will be worried about your safety, and we don’t want worrying lecturing mothers #putthatshitonlock

◊ Don’t take her walking on the sketchy streets: I know they actually are safe even though they look like shit, but if you don’t wanna hear an earful.. or get dragged down the street a speed racer pace.. #AVOID

◊ Show off your cooking skills: Make sure your mom knows you can survive on your own, whip her up your best breakfast. Check out my fav here, its great for impressing mom

Last but not least

◊ Enjoy your time! your mom will be so happy to see you, especially know that she will be re-assured that you are doing just fine

Do you have any tips I missed?! please add on in the comments!
