Lately simplifying has been a reoccurring theme in my life, simplify my blog, simplify my marketing strategies at work, simplify the explanation of things and even simplify my food.
The New Year brought on a lot of de-cluttering, at least for me anyway. I found old clothes I no longer need, mindsets that muddled my thinking, activities that really never suited my body and cluttered foods that weren’t really foods at all if you really looked at them closely.
That being said, I simplified. I let go of a few of those clothes, there is now one happy homeless man walking around town with my flannel plaid scarf. I let go of those thoughts that messed with my mind, not without a little work of course .. and continual work ( still going)! I let go of some of those activities that were too harsh on my joints, they were only really done for vanity anyways, who actually likes to run? And I let go of those favorite last few foods that were deemed healthy by marketing, but in reality really weren’t nourishing to the best of their ability.
I now am more happy with the layout of my blog than I have ever been, maybe because I let go of some of those thoughts ;). I now no longer have swollen ankle joints and achy knees and my closet has room for new, opportunities, O I mean clothes. I truly believe cleaning out your closet is the first step to opening the door to anything new in your life.
Some of your clothes hold so much emotion, whether its from the people who gave them to you(ehh hmm ex boyfriend), the event you wore them too ( with your ex boyfriend), or even weight lost or weight gained. Some clothes hold happy emotions and memories, like that sweater you’ve had for like 5 or 6 years that is so pilly you shouldn’t wear it, but you keep it in your closet cuz you like to look at it and remember. You know thats fine but maybe its time to replace it with a new favorite sweater to make some new memories with.
Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely things that should be saved. I have a shirt, I wouldn’t even say its my favorite shirt, its just a cute floral tank blouse that I bought with my dad. We were on a trip in Florida and I was riding horses all week, it was one of the funnest weeks of my life and he took me shopping. Me and my dad don’t really go shopping much but we did, we just spent the day together strolling around the mall, I was so happy in that moment. It’s a moment I’ll never forget or would ever want to forget, so if you have one of those “I Love Paris” T-shirts from Paris and that was one of the coolest trips of you life. Go ahead… keep that T-shirt.
Now I CHALLENGE you, I know the New Year Resolution time period has passed, but Spring is coming up, we all know what that means, SPRING CLEANING! So my Challenge to you is to start trying to declutter your life, or at least clean out your closet. Or maybe start with your desk.
Surprise Surprise, todays Blondie Bite has a little something something to do with simplifying…
SIMPLIFY YOUR FOOD
Maybe your digestion is feeling a little run down, or you in general are just feeling a little run down. Either way your body is not in it’s optimal condition for digestion, meaning you may be eating the most organic nourishing salad in the world but you could be missing out on some of your nutrients. So, simplify.
Stick to just a simple vegetable with some healthy fat to help assimilation, or maybe a legume or a grain. Or simply a handful of protein.
